Collette Jo (Bates) Piles of Fort Smith, formerly of Waldron, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, April 22, 2018, in a Fort Smith hospital. Collette was born Oct. 13, 1935, in Waldron to Chevis Bates and Delma (Harvey) Bates Bayrd. Collette was 82 years old. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Fort Smith.

Collette worked for 33 years for the federal government at the ASCS office in Waldron. She also worked at the Forest Service and Scott County Theater as a second job for many years. She was a very good provider for her family. Collette enjoyed her time at the courthouse and loved to know what was going on in the community. She also loved to watch the news to keep up with what was going on around the world.

She was a very fun-loving, friendly and generous person. Collette was an excellent wife and mother. She loved doing for others and people really enjoyed being around her. She absolutely cherished all of her family, especially her husband, children and grandchildren. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Democratic Party of Scott County.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Olen Dewayne Piles; son, Larry Wayne piles; one brother, Harvey Bates; and two brothers-in-law, Aldon Hughes and Harold Scott.

Collette is survived by one daughter, Karen Gallimore and husband Mike of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Tara Clifford of Greenwood, Josh Sallee and wife Kathy of Greenwood, Ryan Gallimore and wife Emily of Lowell and Tyler Gallimore and wife Brittany of Greenwood; seven great-grandchildren, Lexi Clifford, Sadie Clifford, Gracie Sallee, Alexia Sallee, Austin Gallimore, Maisyn Gallimore and Traeger Gallimore; two sisters, Vera (Bates) Hughes and Lottie Scott; one sister-in-law, Linda Bates of Waldron; and one brother-in-law, Jimmy "Jetto" Piles.

Funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today at Martin Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron with Diane Miller officiating. Burial will follow the service at Duncan Cemetery under the direction of Martin Funeral Home in Waldron.

Pallbearers will be Josh Sallee, Ryan Gallimore, Tyler Gallimore, Ricky Scott, Terry Flannigan and Roger Sparks.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Lewis, James Hughes, John Gallimore, Phillip Stevens, Robert Lewis, G.W. Stringer, Linden Bailey, Charles "Dutch" Bliss, Russell Sparks, Jerry Parker, Butch Morgan, James Brian Bates, Jimmy Piles and Stephen Bates.
