The DeSoto Trace Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution have added many new members in 2018. Along with them have been a number of interesting speakers. For example, Jason Temple spoke about his time in Gulf War I, Dick Theobald on his years with NASA and Don Van Scotter about his military service during the Korean War.
Coming this fall will be more speakers, when SAR meetings resume in September. On Sept. 8, Leanne Cunningham will talk about the Quilts of Valor program.
On Oct. 13, Doug Beed will give a presentation about life in the infantry during the Vietnam War.
On Nov. 10, Jeff Meek will talk on what’s known and unknown about the Nov. 22, 1963, Kennedy assassination.
On Dec. 8, Charlie Brown will tell of his experiences in the U.S. Coast Guard. Mark your calendars now to attend and hear these exciting stories.
DeSoto Trace/SAR meets the second Saturday of the month at 11:30 a.m. at Home Plate. If you’re interested in history, your ancestry or just curious, come to a meeting, meet the group and see if you’re interested in membership.
