New voter ID information to be presented.

Changes to the state’s voter identification laws will be addressed this Saturday during a Voter ID workshop. The event, hosted by the Clark County branch of the NAACP, will be held from 10 a.m. until noon at the Community Family Enrichment Center, located at 301 North 23rd St. According to Henry Wilson, president of the local NAACP, a representative from the NAACP of Little Rock will be in town to present information to voters. “We are trying to educate people on what IDs they will need when they go vote,” said Wilson. The new Arkansas law, Act 595 of 2013, will be implemented in time for the 2014 election year. According to Wilson, each NAACP branch in Arkansas is scheduled to host a workshop to educate voters on having the proper identification. Clark County Clerk Rhonda Cole said the new law will require all voters to present photo identification when voting. Qualified electors who do not have any photo ID can obtain a free Voter ID card through the local county clerk’s office. There is no charge to attend the workshop.
