Route 3 north has reopened after being closed just before Exit 11 in Duxbury because of a propane leak from a line-painting truck that tipped over.
The truck tipped over at about 2 a.m. Friday and propane began leaking from the vehicle. State Police said the driver, Christopher Mandeville, 37, of Quincy, has been charged with a marked lanes offense. He was taken to South Shore Hospital in Weymouth were he was treated for what police said were minor injuries.
Meanwhile, police called in hazardous materials teams to handle the leaking propane. Police closed both sides of the highway but reopened the southbound side shortly after 5 a.m. The highway remained closed on the northbound side near Exit 11 until about 6 a.m. Northbound traffic was backed up about 2 miles as of 8 a.m. Friday.
