Gurdon traveled to El Dorado Friday night to take on the Trojans of Parker's Chapel. The game started off to be a close one, but after halftime the Trojans pulled away with Gurdon ending the football season with a 20-41 loss.
The Devils won the toss, but elected to kick off to start the game. The Devil’s defense held the Trojans to a punt their first possession, but the Gurdon offense couldn’t get started and had to punt after three plays.
The Trojans would score on their next possession to lead 0-7 with 4:21 remaining in the first quarter.
On Gurdon’s next drive some big runs by Keonta McClelland and Adam Clark was negated by a fumble that was recovered by the Trojans. The first quarter ended with Parkers Chapel leading 0-7.
The Trojans would score early in the second quarter to bring the lead to 0-14 with 11:13 left in the first half. On Gurdon’s next possession the offense was able to move the ball down the field with some runs by McClelland and Clark once again. On second down, Zach Gooding passed the ball to McClelland for a touchdown pass to cut the score to 6-14 with 7:15 left in the quarter.
On the ensuing kickoff, Gurdon elected to onside kick the ball. The Devils were able to recover the ball and set up a first and ten. The offense took advantage and Clark ran for a long touchdown to bring the score 14-12 with 6:11 to go in the second quarter.
The Trojans would score another touchdown just before the half ended to go into halftime leading 21-12.
The third quarter belonged to the Trojans as they scored two more touchdowns to expand the lead to 35-12 at the end of the third quarter.
The fourth quarter was evenly matched as both teams would score again, but in the end the Trojans defeated Gurdon 41-20 ending the season for the Go-Devils.
