The Go-Devils opened the 2009 season at the Rattler Stadium in Murfreesboro but lost by one point on a conversion.
Keon Holliman took the opening kick for 9 yards. Holliman then carried the ball up the middle for no gain.
Senior Keonta McClelland rushed for 3 yards on the next play. That brought up third and seven for the Devils when Jared Shaver connected with Darrius Bailey for a 30 yard gain.
On fourth and three, McClelland fought for the first down with a 5 yard rush up the middle. After a penalty and an incomplete pass the Devils turned the ball over on downs.
The Rattlers first possession stalled out and they were forced to punt. Darrius Bailey returned the punt for 15 yards but is neglected by a block in the back penalty. The second possession did not last long as they fumbled on the first snap.
Three plays later, the Rattlers scored to lead 6-0. With 1:58 remaining in the first, Holliman ran for 36 yards to the Rattler 30 yard line. Then Senior Drew Griffin caught an 18 yard pass.
The first quarter ended with the Rattlers leading.
The Go-Devils lost by one. See full story in the Sept. 9 edition of the Gurdon Times.
