Mr. Walter Lee Nichols, 81, of Bodcaw, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2010, at his home.
He was born on June 27, 1928, in Bodcaw, to Myra and Lottie Relaford Pinkney Nichols. He was a former employee of Potlatch, former convenience store employee of both EZ Mart and the Texaco Convenience Store. He was a member of Union Baptist Church in Bodcaw and a member of Nevada County Rescue Unit. He loved to hunt, fish and watch wrestling.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nora Lee Rayborn Nichols, who died Jan. 20, 2008; one brother, Buck Nichols and two sisters, Rose Lee Bustin and Delpha Mae Bailey.
His survivors include one son, Ferralon Nichols and Elizabeth of Hope; two daughters, Joyce Hicks and Tommy of Bodcaw and Tilman Nichols and Glenda of Springhill; two sisters, Dorothy Huckabee of Springhill and Shirley Lewis and Eloise of Bodcaw; four grandchildren, Russell Glass of Prescott, Tracy Hicks and Keith Jones, both of Bodcaw and Pamela Jenkins of Benton; ten great-grandchildren; six step grandchildren; ten step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service was at 2 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 17, at Union Baptist Church in Bodcaw, with Revs. Joe Brown, Jerry Hightower and Lane Garner officiating. The burial was in DeAnn Cemetery in Prescott. Arrangements were by Brazzle/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott.
The family received friends Saturday, Jan. 16, from 5-8 p.m., at Brazzel/Cornish The Funeral Home of Prescott.
