Mr. Ben Medcalf, age 94, of Curtis, died Saturday, June 19, in Texarkana.
He was born May 9, 1916, in Jamestown, Texas, the son of C. M. and Bertha Jane Winkler Medcalf.
He was the former owner of the Busy Bee Restaurant, worked for Toddle House and Dobbs House restaurants, security guard for International Paper, a U. S. Army Veteran of WWII and a member of First Baptist Church of Curtis.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jessie Callaway Medcalf, one daughter, Betty Jane Gregory, four brothers, and three sisters.
Survivors include one daughter, Patsy Jean Skelton and her husband Pat of Texarkana, Texas; two sons, Ray Benson Medcalf and his wife Bonnie of Keller, Texas, and Richard Lee Medcalf and his wife Marty of Jacksonville, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Ruggles-Wilcox Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Henson, Rev. Phillip Runyan, and Rev. Donnie Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the Southfork Cemetery near Gurdon. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
