The Gurdon Primary School students focused on fitness by conducting time and endurance challenges on the walking trail. Many students in grades kindergarten through 4th scored well enough to achieve National and Presidential standards. The top three boys and girls in each grade were recognized and given trophies at the 8th Annual Turkey Trot Assembly. GPS physical education instructor Beth Anne Neathery said, "The children worked hard and did a great job. We like to stress the importance of fitness and healthy diets as well as academics at GPS. This month we are working on the fundamentals of basketball with a P.E. program called Jingle Ball. We want to combat childhood obesity and encourage a fun and healthy lifestyle."
