Formal charges have been filed in the case of a home invasion in August that sent an elderly resident to the hospital.
According to court records, Jeremy Hendrix, 20, and Frederick Morgan, 18, both of Prescott, were charged in October with kidnapping, aggravated robbery, residential burglary and second degree battery after breaking into a home at 624 W. Olive St.
Records state Prescott Police Cpl. Turner was sent to the residence on Aug. 18, around 3:20 a.m., about a home invasion and robbery that had reportedly occurred.
When he arrived, Turner reportedly talked to the victim, who was sitting on a neighbor's front porch. The victim was bleeding from his head and, according to reports, had obviously been beaten severely in the head and neck area.
The victim told the police someone had broken into his house and tied him up. The suspects, according to records, asked "where the money was," tied the victim up and beat him with their fists, feet and a stick before taking his chainsaw and cell phone when they left.
The victim said the two were in his house a "long time," but he didn't remember how long, according to records. When they left, it took the victim about two hours to free himself and make it to the next door neighbor's house for help. Officers called for medical help and the victim was taken to a hospital for his injuries.
Nevada County Sheriff's Office's K-9 officer Robert Missy. Missy arrived shortly after being called, but the dog was unable to pick up a scent trail. When Thomason arrived he began to process the crime scene while the other officers interviewed neighbors.
A neighbor reportedly told one of the officers woman had been at the victim's house earlier in the evening and returned a 20-gauge shotgun and the victim's wallet, which she allegedly had stolen the week before.
According to court records, the victim thought the woman had left, but noticed a light on in another room. When he checked it out, the two suspects, wearing toboggans or some kind of masks jumped him, tied him up and started beating him.
Thomason reportedly interviewed the woman on Aug. 18 and was told she had gone to the victim's house several times to borrow money and in this instance was given a ride by Morgan. She told Thomason Hendrix rode over with them.
Thomason interviewed Hendrix later that day.
According to the report, Hendrix said the three of them had gone to the victim's house several times. He reportedly told Thomason he noticed Morgan had duct tape after they arrived at the victim's house on the date of the attack.
Hendrix allegedly admitted knocking on the back door and getting no answer, then going to a side window with an air conditioner in it. He reportedly knocked on the window and got no answer. According to the report, Hendrix found an open window and entered the house. Morgan was allegedly too big to fit through the window, so Hendrix opened a door for him.
According to the report, Morgan went into the victim's bedroom and called for Hendrix to come in. When Hendrix entered the room the victim reportedly woke up and got out of bed. The two allegedly attempted to hide, but were seen by the victim. At this time Hendrix tried to pin the victim's arms and hold him down while Morgan taped his hands, according to reports. The victim reportedly struggled and fought back, which resulted in the two beating on the victim.
Hendrix, the report states, said the tape didn't work and a shirt was used to bind the victim's hands. Once tied up the victim was thrown onto the bed, according to the report, and the pair began looking through the house but found nothing and left.
