Lenford Carlee Key, age 75 of Malvern, died Tuesday, May 22, 2018 at his home.
He was born on June 10, 1942 in Hope, Arkansas to the late Virgil Sidney Key and Trebia Corrine Coon Key. Reared in Gurdon on Kansas Loop Road, he spent three years in the United States Army, during which time he was stationed in Germany. He earned his GED while in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Little Rock. Carlee was a member of Hammonds Missionary Baptist Church in Gurdon.
He was the widower of the late Brenda Jean Pearson Key, to whom he was married on December 18, 1964 in Malvern. She preceded him in death on April 22, 2018, exactly one month prior to his death. Carlee was a truck driver and retired from Capitol Manufacturing Company in Columbus, Ohio in 1998.
He is survived by his daughter, Carla Rene Wegner and her husband, Corey, of Norfolk, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Kyle Anthony Wegner, Kayla Nicole Wegner, and Kody John Wegner; two sisters, Alma Corinne Doddridge of Malvern and Bonnie Lou Beals of Gurdon; a brother, Virgil Don Key and his wife, Barbara of Malvern, and a brother-in-law, David Black of Hughes Springs, Texas.
Carlee was also preceded in death by a sister, Wanda Sue Black, and two brothers-in-law, Arthur Doddridge and Wayne Beals.
The family will receive friends at J. A. Funk Funeral Home on Saturday evening, May 26, 2018 from five until seven o’clock.
The funeral will be on Sunday afternoon at two o’clock in the funeral home chapel with Brother Tom Lackey officiating. Interment will follow in Bethlehem Cemetery near Gurdon with Military Honors.
