The Hot Springs Village Shrine Club spent a day enjoying the horse races at Oaklawn on April 5. This was one of the social activities of the club and a relaxing break from fundraising activities for the Shrine Hospital for Children in Shreveport.
The Shreveport Children’s Hospital treats more than 17,000 children annually, regardless of ability to pay. The HSV Shrine Club has donated more than $650,000 to support the hospital’s efforts through fundraising and donations.
One of the fundraisers is the 37th Golf-A-Rama which will be held at Magellan Golf Course on Oct. 13.
Should you know of a child that has an orthopedic condition, burns, spinal cord injuries or cleft lip and palate, contact a Shriner or hospital chairman Arv Hallstrom at 708-341-6365.
The club meets the second Tuesday of the month, except during the summer months. The next meeting will be their annual Hog Roast on May 8 at the Balboa Pavilion.
Anyone interested in joining the social activities and helping with the fundraising to help the children may call membership chairman Gerald Gordy.
