Arkadelphia Lady Badger softball started off the 2018 season by sweeping a doubleheader Thursday night against Arkansas High and Gurdon.

Arkadelphia Lady Badger softball started off the 2018 season by sweeping a doubleheader Thursday night against Arkansas High and Gurdon.
The games were played on the campus of Henderson State University. The Lady Badgers opened the night with a 11-1 win over Arkansas High.
Arkadelphia got on the board in the first inning as Ashlyn Taylor reached first on an error and then eventually scored as the result of three passed balls. The Lady Badgers increased their lead with a 5 run bottom of the third inning. Charley Smyser led off the inning with a single. Taylor drew a walk. A Mollie Daniell's single drove in Taylor.
Cloie Sicking doubled bringing in Daniell and Lyndi Porter who had reached on a fielder's choice. Josee Bebee has rbi groundout to plate Kristen Curtis who had reached on a fielder's choice. Mckenzie McLane with two outs doubles to center to bring in Sicking for fifth run. Arkadelphia adds two in the fourth.
Smyser reached on error, Taylor singles, and Smyser scores on RBI ground out by Daniell. Taylor is then driven home by a triple off the bat of Curtis. Arkansas High scored it's lone run in the top of the sixth. The Lady Badgers responded with three in the bottom half of the frame thus invoking the 10 run rule. Daniell worked a lead off walk followed by a Sicking single.
Bebee walked followed a walk to McLane producing a run. With bases loaded Gracie Dunaway singled to short plating Allie Harris who came in run for Sicking. Smyser singled center to score Bebee and the winning run. Sicking went the distance on the allowing three hits and striking out 7.
In game two Arkadelphia defeated Gurdon 18-11. Arkadelphia playing as the visiting team scored one in the first as Taylor just as in game one walked and eventually scored on a passed ball. The bottom of the first saw Gurdon plate 4 runs.
The Lady Badgers scored four runs of their own in the top of the second. Mclane is was hit by a pitch, Madison Morris walked, Taylor was also hit by a pitch to load the bases. Porter stepped to the plate and drove the ball over the right center field wall for a grand slam. With two outs in the bottom of the second Gurdon was able to score 5 runs and take the lead again.
In the top of the Arkadelphia exploded for 9 runs. Sicking got it started with a triple to center. Bebee walked and McLane singled to score Sicking. Morris drove the ball up middle to score Bebee and McLane and found herself standing on third. Taylor doubled to score Morris and Daniell doubled off the left field wall bringing in Taylor.
Curtis then singles brining home Daniell, Sicking walked and then Bebee hit a three run shot over the left center field wall. In the top of the fourth, the Lady Badgers added two more runs .Morris singled. Smyser walked. Morris got out on a fielder’s choice but Smyser scored when Porter hit a classic inside the park homerun off the right field wall.
Gurdon was able to pick up a run in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth. Arkadelphia’s Taylor led off the top the sixth with a homer to almost dead center field. Daniell walked, Curtis singled advancing Harris, who ran for Daniell, to third. Sicking hit a sac fly to center to plate Harris scoring the 18th run.
