Are You Cross-Fit?

When I signed up for Cross-Fit training, I didn’t realize what I was getting myself into. Cross-Fit is an exercise program specifically designed to improve health and fitness. The workouts are based on functional movements, which are performed at a high intensity level.
Many days the struggles were almost unbearable, but my instructor always kept me motivated, by giving me a high-five at the end of each session. However, this bit of encouragement kept me returning back to his Cross-Fit class.
What did I gain from Cross-Fit training?
The benefits of Cross-Fit training are proven to be astronomical. But in order to keep my health and fitness in check, I’ve learned that it’s imperative to keep an exercise program as an ongoing action.
Comparatively speaking, my Cross-Fit training is of little value in relation to my spiritual training. We are reminded in I Timothy 4:8 that “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” It is clearly stated that God is more concerned about our spiritual development and disciplines.
Today I encourage you to “train yourself in godliness!” A foundational component of this training is the implementation of the work on the Cross.
Jesus’ work on the Cross can be carried out in our actions by establishing good praying habits, Bible reading and studying, fellowshipping with other believers, giving, serving and witnessing. And always remember, as disciples of Jesus Christ we are always in training!
