Ashley Graves, Clark County Librarian, presented the monthly program for the Clark County Retired Teachers Association (CCRTA).
During her presentation, attention was focused on the age and existing condition of the 1903 building. The library was the idea of some of the women in Arkadelphia in the early 1900s. It was through their work and efforts that the library at 603 Caddo is here today. The landmark building was designed by Charles Thompson of Little Rock as a single story brick building in a Classic Revival style.
Since the building is now in need of repair, the CCRTA voted to volunteer their time and effort to make repairs in any way possible. They will also assist in making the public aware of the deteriorating building and seek ways to aid in the preservation of this historic structure. They will reach out to the community for help and make the residents of Clark County aware in order to preserve this historic library for future generations.
