Crawford will use selections from his recent book "Female Voices from the Bible," a collection of poem stories about ancient women demonstrating their wit, intellect, daring and faith, at a time when men would not. Each selection will be accompanied with a gospel song that paralleled the. character.
Crawford has published three books about women of Shakespeare's era, and he has three volumes of poetry about numerous female subjects.
Crawford has been nominated to serve as the next poet laureate of Arkansas. He has served in a church musical capacity since the age of ten, serving now as organist, pianist and soloist at Gurdon United Methodist Church. He is a graduate of OBU, and served HSU for 40 years as Professor of English, retiring as professor emeritus.
The Young at Heart is a service of First Baptist for its senior members, meeting monthly, and invites seniors of all church groups to attend. Those who plan to eat lunch should reserve by calling the church office at (870) 245 3677 by Friday, Jan. 26.
