Another Charger

The other day my wife discovered that her phone was dead. There was no response to pushing the buttons, so she put it on the charger for hours. Finally she got some life in it and attempted to send out a text and it went dead again.
Back on the charger it went for another period of time with the screen remaining dark. It seemed sort of hopeless with the bleak thought of losing all the information in the device and having to get a new phone.
Finally it was suggested that she try a different charger. She did. The phone charged up, and is now in use. The charger we had was no longer doing the job, which allowed the phone to go down to having no power to function.
With the events of seeing Jesus captured, tortured, crucified, and laid to rest, the early disciples had their hopes dashed and were left powerless to function. They were hidden behind closed doors for fear of what the Jews might also do to them. But then, Jesus appeared to them and proved that he was alive and well. With that he gave them their final instructions to go into all the world and preach the gospel, but first they were to be “endued with power from on high” with the promise of the Father (John 20:19-23; Luke 24:36-53). About 120 people waited with much prayer in Jerusalem.
On the day of Pentecost the Holy Spirit was ushered into this age in a new way, resting upon each believer with supernatural power. When they received the power, they boldly proclaimed the name of Jesus, and miracles flowed like a river (Book of Acts). The former order of things passed away with Jesus ascending back up into heaven. The new order of things was initiated with the Holy Spirit coming upon each believer in power. A new charger had been given. Where there had been no hope, and with the work of God paralyzed by fear, now, the disciples moved in the power of God to proclaim light and life into a dark, dying world.
Many lives were changed and miracles flowed like a river. The “phone” was dead with no function. Now it was charged up and communicating the gospel to the whole world with power. If the charger we are plugged in to is not powering us up to do what the Lord said to do, then maybe we need to plug in to another charger.
We need to get the power that is available in the house wiring into our personal device, and get a supernatural talk with a supernatural walk that will show Jesus is still alive and well for the world today.
