Action!

The set has been made. The script has been written. The actors are in place. Everything needed to produce the greatest show the world has ever seen is now ready to roll. The Director shouts “Action!” The plot unfolds as each person plays their part.
Evil has beset the world with sin, bondage, sickness, and despair, but God sends a Savior named Jesus, who is also called The Word. Through the Word and Holy Spirit working through obedient people, God reaches into lives all around the globe. He sets them free and turns them around for his glory just like Jesus did when he himself walked the earth.
I recently read the account of Lois Meyer of Michigan, a 67 retired widowed school teacher (Word of Faith Magazine, October/November 2017 issue). As planes passed overhead, she looked up and said “Lord, everybody is going somewhere but me. I want to go somewhere! Take me somewhere.” And God did--all around the world!
She first attended Rhema Bible Training Center near Tulsa, and upon graduation went to the Philippines for six years. She ministered the Word, and people’s lives were changed and healed. She then spent the next 21 years on the mission field in 19 countries, trusting God every step of the way. She turns 100 years old in November, holding prayer meetings and “hymn sings” at her retirement home. She is also writing a book on the miracles she has witnessed.
Her advice to others is this:
1. Fill your spirit with God’s Word as much as you can.
2. Don’t be afraid of death—look forward to it!
3. Don’t get into strife because James 3:16 says, “Where…strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” It is the opposite of John 3:16 (love gives and brings life).
4. Learn to use the power you’ve been given (Matt.28:18; Luke 10:19).
Using that power is one of her “secrets” to staying in good health and enjoying old age. Anytime she feels anything going on in her body, she commands it to leave in Jesus’ name. She once thought doing such a thing was “kooky”, but now says that is why she has lived so long.
Lois Meyer is playing her role in the great movie of life. She serves as an inspiration and challenge to every one of us. With the finished work of Jesus and the command to every believer to go into all the world and preach the gospel, there is only one thing that remains for each one of us—“Action!”
