An explosion in Gum Springs earlier this week sent three Alcoa employees to the hospital and units to the scene to combat a fire.
The explosion occurred in a building next to Alcoa on Tuesday, Sept. 26. Firefighters responded at 3:15 p.m. and were able to swiftly put the blaze out. Two of the injured employees were taken to hospitals in Little Rock by helicopter. The third employee was transferred to a CHI St. Vincent in Hot Springs. All three employees sustained non-life threatening injuries and have since been released from the hospital.
Both the Arkadelphia and Gum Springs Fire Departments responded. The former is handling the investigation.
The AFD confirmed through phone Thursday morning that the matter is still being investigated. Updates will be shared once they are learned.
