Brown is the 13th pastor of the 136-year-old congregation. He succeeds former the pastor, Rev. Thomas Hale, who passed away in March 2017.
Brown preached his first sermon in 2007 at the age of 23 at the St. Matthew Baptist Church in McNeil, Ark. under the leadership of Rev. James C. Scott. He was ordained in 2008.
A job opportunity brought him to Arkadelphia in 2011. Following this transition, he united with the Greater Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.
Brown was called to pastor the Mount Olive Baptist Church in Camden in July 2012. He began his pastoral duties in August 2012 and was installed as pastor of Mount Olive in October 2012.
During Brown’s tenure at Mount Olive, multiple ministries were either revived or implemented, two deacons were ordained, a church van was purchased and upgrades were made to the church’s edifice and parsonage. The church also experienced an inflation in its youth department as it grew from approximately eight children to 25 during the course of Brown’s pastorate.
In addition to serving as the pastor of St. Ruth, Brown is the managing editor of the Siftings Herald. He is married to Erica Brown, student relations coordinator for the Talent Search program at Ouachita Baptist University. They are the parents of one daughter, Jerica.
Brown extends a special invitation to anyone to worship with them for the installation and on Sundays. Sunday School starts at 9:45, followed by Morning Worship at 11. Mid-week Bible Study is each Wednesday at 6.
