Paul Edward Murphy, 63, of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, passed away at home on September 8, 2017.
Paul was born April 22, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa, son of Wayne Edward Murphy and Margaret Boldt Murphy.
He attended Sacred Heart Elementary, Columbus High School, and graduated from West High School in 1972. He earned his degree in engineering from University of Northern Iowa. He worked at John Deere Engine Works in Waterloo, Iowa, and retired from Scroll Technologies in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Paul is survived by his beloved wife; Penny, his children; Michael Carroll (Rebecca) of Woodbury, Minn.,Matthew Murphy of Peoria, Ill., Sara Murphy Jump (Jordan) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his stepchildren; Sarah Goldstein (Mark) of Arden, N.C. and Abigail Koch-Huizenga (Greg) of Fulton, Ill. and four grandchildren; Ryan and Logan Carroll, Alden Goldstein, and Michaela Jump.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant sister Mary Elizabeth.
Paul was a loving and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed by many, and his memory will be greatly cherished by those who loved him.
A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. (
