Clark County Prosecuting Attorney Blake Batson announced Tuesday that his office was awarded a Victims of Crime Act (VOCA) grant to enhance services for victims of crime in Clark County.
The grant funds were used to furnish and decorate a waiting room in Clark County Circuit Court for victims and their families. The room was previously furnished with random left-over and broken furniture.
Batson stated, “Becky Ursery, victim services director for the prosecutor’s office, researched and recommend we apply for the grant. Thanks to Ms. Ursery’s efforts, the VOCA grant provided funds that were used to purchase new furniture and a compact refrigerator for use by victims. Also, the room now has cell phone charging stations and a coffee pot. All of the items purchased helps provide a secure and more comfortable area for victims and their families to wait during court appearances.”
