Joseph “Jay” Harwell III, 67, of Gurdon, Arkansas passed away May 23, 2017 at his home in Gurdon.
Jay was born May 25, 1949 to Joseph “Jay” Harwell Jr. and Martha Taylor Harwell in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Jay was a lifelong resident of Gurdon, graduated from Gurdon High School and attended Henderson State University.
Jay was the owner of Jay Harwell Custom Machine Shop of Gurdon. He became a machinist under the apprenticeship of C.B. Foshee at Gurdon Machine Shop where he later became the owner.
Prior to becoming a machinist Jay ran the family auto parts business and later managed several other auto parts businesses.
Jay is preceded in death by his grandparents Jessie Cox Harwell, Bernice Harwell and J.B. Harwell SR., Wayne and Zela Taylor and his Parents J.B. and Martha (Taylor) Harwell.
Survivors are one brother Matt Harwell of Waldo, Arkansas., one sister Robin Fleming of Fishers, Indiana., an Aunt Joyce Taylor of Little Rock, Arkansas., and one Uncle Dr. Wayne Taylor and Donna of Dallas, Texas.
Visitation will be: Friday, May 26, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon Chapel
Chapel Service will be: Saturday, May 27, 2017 at 10 a.m. Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon with Bro. Travis Langley officiating.
Interment will follow: in Rose Hedge Cemetery. Under the direction of Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon.
