Leo Richard Mather, 87, of Arkadelphia, Arkansas went to heaven on May 17, 2017 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas.
Leo was born in Corry, Pennsylvania on February 6, 1930. He graduated seminary from Nyack College in New York. Leo was a pastor, a beautician, and owned Robert’s Furniture Store.
Leo’s true passion was gospel music and choir directing. He also enjoyed singing, playing the piano and organ, camping, boating, fishing, and loved cats.
He will be welcomed home by his parents, Roy Elmer Mather b.1891 and Lepha Louise (Cooper) Mather b.1892.
He is survived by three children: Connie (Mather) and husband Jim Hendrix of Arkadelphia. Peggy (Mather) and husband Richard LaFountain of Gainesville, Texas. Dan Mather and wife Linda of Corry, Pennsylvania. His brother Paul Mather and wife Peg of Corry, Pennsylvania. The mother of his children, Joan Mae (Ross) Loveland of Corry, Pennsylvania. Seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 27, 2017 at Welch Funeral Home.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers to please send memorial donations to the Arkadelphia Senior Adult Center,1305 N. 10th Street, Arkadelphia, Arkansas 71923, where Leo enjoyed spending time with many friends.
