A Gurdon resident has been charged for an alleged shooting.
In March, Sgt. Toby Garner of the Gurdon City Marshal’s Office spoke with an individual at Baptist Health Medical Center’s emergency room. The patient was receiving treatment for a gunshot wound and head trauma.
According to the victim, he and friends had been driving on Fourth Street when they encountered another vehicle. The driver of the latter vehicle pulled in front of them and many people exited.
The victim explained to Garner that he and his friends also got out to see what was wrong.
It was at this time that defendant Christopher Trentell Penny allegedly approached the victim and hit him in the head using a pistol butt. Penny then allegedly fired a shot into his right arm.
Penny has been charged with first-degree battery, for which he could serve up to 20 years in prison.
