“Set in Agreement”
Everybody knows that if you come into agreement with a lifestyle of only eating cake, coke, and popcorn with always just sitting around doing nothing, you will get the results of such a lifestyle. Such lifestyle will not lend itself to health, wholeness and a sense of well-being.
On the contrary, if you are in agreement with a lifestyle of eating good, nutritious “live food” with lots of wholesome activity, such a way of life lends itself to health and well-being.
In the work world, if you come into agreement with a boss on what needs to be done in order to do a job, and you carry out the proper steps, the results will be a job well done. If you don’t, it won’t. What we come into agreement with is generally what results we experience in life.
One day Jesus received a request from a military boss for him to come and heal his servant who was sick and about to die. He was a man of authority who had built a synagogue for the Jewish nation. He recognized that Jesus also was a man of authority who could tell sickness where to get off and it would obey.
Before Jesus ever arrived at the man’s house, the man sent friends out to Jesus with a message that if Jesus would just say in a word, his servant would be healed. He said, “For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it (Luke 7:1-10). The man’s servant was healed.
Jesus lived a lifestyle in agreement with the word and ways of God, and so, got the results of God. It is only logical that if we change our way of thinking, speaking, and acting to conform to the way God thinks, speaks, and acts, then we will get the results of God.
If we “set” ourselves in agreement with God under his authority, then we are just carrying out what the Boss wants to accomplish and we end up with a “job well done.”
Being in agreement with God gets the results of God. This is what Jesus demonstrated.
We can have a lifestyle of eating only spiritual cake, coke, and popcorn and get the spiritual results of that, or we can set ourselves in agreement with the word and ways of God and get those results. Good food will do us better.
