A food collecting group recently received a large boost in donations.
Alumacraft Boat Co. hosted a friendly competition within its departments to collect food for Project CARE, of Patterson Federal Credit Union.
Project CARE assists students who may not get enough to eat outside of school.
Alumacraft’s efforts saw the departments competing for a free lunch. The contest proved hugely successful, with 664 pounds of food collecting over a two week period. The largest amount of food within a singled department was 259 pounds, giving the parts department the win.
Food collected by Project CARE is sent home for weekends and holidays with students to ensure they have more to eat.
“We are thrilled to be able to partner with local businesses to help provide for our community,” said Nicole McGough, of the credit union. “Patterson would like to give a special thanks to the wonderful men and women at Alumacraft.”
Those interested in donating food can find more information at Patterson Federal Credit Union or by contacting McGough at 246-8005.
