Scholarships

Raissa Ames and Chantel Ceasar each received $500 Lincoln Alumni scholarships, Ashleigh Hightower received a $500 Lawrence Tidwell Memorial sholarship and Hayley Taylor received a $500 William Whitley Community service award scholarship, all from the Lincoln Alumni Association.

Makayla Carter of Fort Smith, a student at Hackett High School, was recently selected to receive a 2018 Horatio Alger State scholarship from the Horatio Alger Association Endowment Fund. The award is valued at up to $10,000.

The Cherokee Nation Foundation recently award $210,000 in scholarships to several individuals including seven area students. Those students and their awards are Caleb Armer, Muldrow High School, Cherokee Scholars; Erin Crawford, Carl Albert State College, Carl Albert State College scholarship; Cade Floyd, Muldrow High School, Cherokee Scholars; Cassidy Floyd, Roland High School, Cherokee Scholars; Michelle Hughes, Northeastern State University, Audie Baker Memorial scholarship; Emily Johnson, Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics, Cherokee Scholars; and Seth Sifuentes, Muldrow High School, Cherokee Scholars.

Arkansas Tech University-Ozark Campus will provide a one-time $500 scholarship to students who have earned credit from Arkansas Tech University while in high school. To be eligible, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours while graduating high school with a minimum 2.0 GPA. The new scholarship program, with a focus on career education, is offered on a first-come, first-serve basis and will cover tuition and fees for qualifying programs of study.
