The Dam Night Run is set for Saturday at 8 p.m. at Iron Mountain.
If you’ve been looking for an easy 5K race to participate in, this might be the one you are looking for.
The Dam Night Run is Saturday, and those who are interested in running still have the opportunity to sign up.
The Dam Night Run will start at 8 p.m. approximately two miles west of the DeGray Lake Dam on Skyline Drive.
There will be transportation for participants from the parking area near the finish line to the start, and water will be available at the start as well.
The course is overall a downhill grade, and it is a certified course.
The course starts at the top of Iron Mountain and winds its way down gently before the steeper grade just before reaching the dam.
Runners will continue along the dam, going into a slight uphill grade before they reach the huge downhill grade that leads to the spillway area where runners will finish their last 10th of a mile on flat ground.
The event is fast, with the course record set at 14:22 for men and 17:02 for women.
After the race is complete, participants will be able to enjoy music, water, ice cold watermelon and a water cannon.
There will also be awards given out for participants after the race, with the awards presentation tentatively scheduled for 9:30 p.m.
Entry is $15 for those 18 and under, and $25 for all other participants prior to race day. The fee is $30 on the day of the race.
