Mr. Lester “Doc” Fincher, 74, of Washington, passed away, Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, in Houston, Texas.

Mr. Lester “Doc” Fincher, 74, of Washington, passed away, Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, in Houston, Texas.
He was born Nov. 22, 1936, in Hope, to Joe Burton and Georgia Webb Fincher. Doc was a retired member of the Arkansas National Guard with 24 years of service, a retired employee of the Arkansas State Highway Department and a member of Washington Baptist Church in Washington. One of Doc’s biggest loves was his volunteer work with the Cross Roads Volunteer Fire Department, in which he was one of the first to join.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, of 46 years, Virginia “Butch” Fincher.
Survivors include two sons Joe “J.D.” Fincher and wife Misty of Katy, Texas, and Chris Fincher and wife Jenifer of  Blevins;  his daughter Rhonda Dougan of Blevins; his two sisters; Betty Ray of Clear Lake, Texas, and Nancy Ames of Sour Lake, Texas, six grandchildren; six great-grandchildre; and a special friend, Donnia Fowler of Washington.
The family received friends Thursday, Sept. 29, at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope.
Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30, at Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Charles Jones will officiate the service. Burial to follow in Columbus Cemetery in Columbus. Brazzel/Oakcrest The Funeral Home of Hope is in charge of arrangements.
