J.C. Smithpeters, 79, of Okolona, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia.

J.C. Smithpeters, 79, of Okolona, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010, at Baptist Health Medical Center-Arkadelphia.
J.C. was born March 27, 1931, in Okolona, to the late Brum and Lou Tissue McGougan Smithpeters. He was an avid hunter, a volunteer fireman of Gurdon, a member of the roundtable Dillard’s Shell and he retired as a manager of the Gurdon City Water Department.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings W.B., Doyle, Virgil, William, Roy, Lois, Esther and Lola.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel Smithpeters; one son, James “Jay” Smithpeters and wife JoJo; one daughter, Jennifer Smithpeters, all of Okolona; two sisters, Opal Whitley of Arkadelphia and Freda Sue Barfield of Bald Knob.
Visitation was Friday, Nov. 26, from 6-8 p.m. in the Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon Chapel. Funeral services were held Saturday, Nov. 27, at 10 a.m. in the Pharr Funeral Home Chapel. Interment followed in Center Ridge Cemetery in Okolona.
Services were under the direction of Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon.
