Mildred Reynolds Welch, 87 widow of William Welch passed away Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009.


A life resident of Clark County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Pearl Reynolds. She was preceded in death by one brother, Ray Reynolds and one sister Faye Tucker. Survivors include one sister, Marcelle Vick of El Dorado, AR.; five nephews, Ray Tucker, Ronnie and Randy Gulledge, Sam and Dennis Reynolds; four nieces Nancy Sunderland, Penny Alred, Pam Davis and Rita Stricklin.


She was a graduate of Henderson State University with a BSE and MSE degree. Before retirement she taught in the Red Springs Community and the Gurdon Public School with 36 years of service. Most of her teaching career was in Science at the Junior High level.


Mildred was a member of Red Springs Baptist Church, Kappa Kappa Iota Soroity, past member of Kadohadacho club and a life time member of ATRA. She was a Democrat committee woman for many years.


She was a Christian and lived her life as a Christian. She loved people and had a desire to smile and give a helping hand to everyone she met. Her life was full of love and happiness.


Visitation was held Monday, Dec. 21, 2009 beginning at 1:00 PM and continued until service time at 2:00 PM in Red Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Black officiating. Interment followed in Bethel Springs Cemetery under the direction of Pharr Funeral Home of Gurdon.


Memorial may be made to the Red Springs Baptist Church or to the charity of your choice.


Pallbearers are Mildred’s nephews. Honorary Pallbearers are the Red Springs Baptist Church Deacons.
